November 2014 New Pages
New pages added tracing the division of Parcel 1.1.2, the largest part sold in 1804 to Dr. David Stuart, which he named Ossian Hall, and which in 1843 passed to Francis Asbury Dickins. The Events timeline has been extended to the early Civil War. Geologic History looks at the geology beneath Ravensworth. Added in July, it’s a rework of an article written earlier for another purpose.
A year ago we moved from our quarter acre of Ravensworth in Fairfax to Warrenton, VA. Moving and settling in partially account for the time gap in adding new material. Research challenges including lost, incomplete or nonexistent records and multiple, complex land transactions also contributed. Work got back on track thanks to help from the Fairfax Circuit Court Historic Records staff and Beth Mitchell’s deed analysis documentation supporting her “Fairfax County in 1860: Property Owners” maps.
As always, thanks for reading and feedback welcomed via the Contact page.
